Shania's '99 CBS special aired on the american thanksgiving. All in all it was another great Shania special, and a glimpse at what its like to see her in concert. Her band was there, which was good to see. I was able to capture most of it from satellite, so the quality is pretty good. I do seem to be having some odd problems capturing still images at 640x480 size. Most who know my vidcaps know that i post 320x240 size images. They always capture without a hitch, as long as the source quality is good. At 640x480, it seems to give an interlaced look to it if there is too much movement. Could it be I need a faster CPU? I am currently running a PII 266. Anyways, enough of the techy mumbo-jumbo, here's an example of a good cap at 640:

Nice, I'm happy. Now onto a bad one with apparently too much movement, though it was a nice catch:

The special opened with clips of Shania and the Dallas Cowboys getting reading for their respective days events. Shania then walked through the isle of Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders into the arena wearing a cut-off Cowboys jersey. Shania then mounted the platform she is carried on in her concerts and brought towards the stage. She takes off the jersey and performs the first half of the show wearing a 2 peice silver outfit. Kinda "space-age" looking, but nice nonetheless.

There were a bunch of great behind the scenes clips as well. They showed Shania and Alison in the Cowboys dressing room, Shania playing catch with 3 Cowboys, and Shania talking with Troy Aikman. Of course, can't forget Shania and the band talking and dancing with the famous Cowboy Cheerleaders.

The Dressing room scene was cool, Shania and Alison are looking around and holding pads and jerseys up to themselves. Shania ends up putting on troy Aikmans jersey {quarterback, so one of the smaller guys on the team}, and just swims in it. She finds some scissors and gets Alison to trim it "Shania-Style", cut-off at midriff.

Shania performed "Homey I'm Home", "Rock This Country", "Don't Be Stupid", "Come On Over", "You're Still The One", "Man, I Feel Like A Woman", "That Don't Impress Me Much", and of course finishes with "I'm Outta here". One great part was when it starts with a sound check session with Shania and the band, not very dressy, little make-up etc, and with a revolution around Shania, turns into the concert performance of it. Nice touch. Shania sounded great throughout the concert, and you'll recognize the small differences in the songs if you have been lucky enough to see her in concert.

Shania wears a 2 piece pink outfit for the 2nd part of the show. Similar style to that she wears in concert, but a little more glittery. Seems to be the same material/fit as the others though. Snug, but she says they're very comfortable, like a pair of pajama's. You're gonna please alot of women if you can make outfits like these that are still comfortable, and I believe Marc Bouwer also makes her concert outfits. He is the same guy who made, and convinced Shania to wear the famous black outfit she wore during her Grammy's performance.

Shania is obviously athletic, but it shocked me to see how well she could play football. She can throw well, catch well, and kick extremely well. Shania herself looked quite surprised as well, and so did the players especially. I would have assumed they rehersed this for awhile so she did ok, but there were enough honest surprised reactions to make me believe otherwise.
I enjoyed the special, and who knows how much Shania we will see in 2000 with her well deserved rest, and work on the new album. Maybe her last TV thing for awhile? Hopefully in 2001 when she tours with the new album, she can get back into such performance excellence and have the same talented band, if they don't make it big themselves.

Because I'm falling asleep, here are the remaining caps I uploaded tonight that I didnt incorporate into this review:
