Riverside Baseball Centre

The year 1990 was important for the Riverside Minor Baseball Club for it was the year it purchased St. Rose Hall and renamed it the Riverside Baseball Centre. This resulted in the baseball operation becoming the Windsor-Riverside Baseball Association with responsibility for the baseball program and the Riverside Minor Baseball Club with the responsibility for the operation and development of the Baseball Centre.

The Riverside Minor Baseball Association offers programs for children ages 5-16. These programs include house leagues and travel elite teams that participate in Ontario Baseball competition throughout the province. Winter hitting leagues also provide an opportunity for youth to improve their skills even though the weather does not permit outside play.

Information on any of these programs is available through the Riverside Baseball office at the Baseball Centre at 6865 Ontario Street or by phone at 944-9115.

The Riverside Minor Baseball Club, with help from all of the groups that call the Centre home during the past year, recently completed an addition to the building. The new gymnasium, with storage space and a new office, helps meet the growing need for gymnasium use by the many groups. Special features of the new gymnasium are the batting cages that store in the ceiling and are lowered for use by the baseball group.

The facility now provides a major part of the recreational programming in the east end of the City of Windsor. The programs are all self-financing and do not receive any operating support from municipal, provincial or federal sources. The organizations at the Centre rely on fees, sponsorship, special events, donations and lottery funds to support the programs that are available to all.
