FLATROCK
SPEEDWAY
Flatrock speedway is a fast medium to high bank 1/4 mi. pavement
oval. See the track featured in Stock Car Racing magazine March 97
. Many current and past stars have challenged the track, one I must give
mention to is Joy Fair, Michigan short track legend, he ran in 1998, lets
hope he's back in 99. Joy is in his upper 60's, and to mix it up with the
late model field at Flatrock in 90-94 degree weather doing 12 second lap's
is quite remarkable. There is so much about Flatrock that is unique I really
don't know where to start. Being sanctioned by A.R.C.A. and having
some of the best people in the business running the track its not unusual
to see 150-200 race cars at specials (about 10 times a season) and
100-110 for regular shows. The competition in the street stock division
where Gary and I run is tremendous, there have been nights where 14.004
seconds landed you in the "B" main where top time was 13.690 in the "A"
they also run a "C" main. The full late model field is also competitive
with some lightning fast cars. A.R.C.A. figure 8's round up the regulars,
this division winds up the nite and I think the person having the most
fun is the announcer Gary Lindal, he really knows how to excite the crowd,
like
they really need it anyway watching the intersection action. Flatrock
owners, officials, tech crew, announcer, and most of all the fans make
this place truly unique. We are very proud to be part of it.
