Ausmus Notes: Flat Rock Speedway’s super late
model division continues to generate new winners nearly every week. Steve
Bunge is the 13th different winner in 14 races during the 2001 season.
Eric Lee took the lead from his pole position and lead the first 33 laps.
Bunge, who started in 10th, took to the high groove on lap 25 and passed
car after car, finally passing Lee on coming down for the white flag.

Notes: The A main was called because heavy
rain and lightning on lap 17. Norton passed early leader Chuck Koob on
lap seven and held off the hard charging duo of Ron Allen and Ken Knight
for the abbreviated feature win. A red was thrown after an accident involving
Don Lane Jr, Dave Kessler, Terry Humphrey, Tom Phillips, Kevin Butzin and
Scott Selmi. Safety crews were dispatched to check on Kessler who’s car
had been broadsided. Kessler emerged from the car under his own power,
after several minutes. The B Main, C Main and
Figure 8 features were rained out and will
be run on Saturday, Aug. 25, along with the regular program.
