ABOUT
FLATROCK'S STREET STOCKS
Flatrock Speedway has a very competitive street
stock division which has 60 / 65 cars registered and competing weekly
in all of the four years I've been racing there. The cars qualify each
night, and through qualifying scorers are able to set up heat races, usually
5 or 6. The fast qualifier rolls two dice and that number is the invert
for the feature, the top 20 or 21 cars depending how many are out on that
night are locked into the A-main. Flatrock does allow for one provisional
( means a car that has points in the A-main and did not qualify in the
top 20 by time, that car comes in at the rear of the pack). Then the same
format will set up the B-main with the remainder of the field making up
the C-main. It's not hard to tell Flatrock does things right with a field
like that.
Qualifying can be quite a chore at times, because of the amount
of cars to qualify the street stocks must settle on the best of two laps
only!, when you get waived out of the shoot on the backstretch you have
a half lap to try and build up heat in your tires and your on the clock.
Many of us brush the wall and many loop it at the end of the second lap
(tires are hot then) but your done and you take what was your best lap.
We can keep the A-main between 13.50 on the pole and 13.90's in 20th spot,
the B-and C-main are as close.
What would I change in the A.R.C.A. Street Stocks at Flatrock---
Nothing its a great division with all the close competition you could want.
