Description:

Not since Soundgarden do you hear as many heavy drop d guitar riffs on one album. Finger Eleven changed their name from Rainbow Butt Monkeys shortly before the release of this CD. The name change delayed the release of Tip a couple of months. The name change definetly made people think about what happened to The Rainbow Butt Monkeys. These five members of Finger Eleven are a really talented bunch of guys, the rhythm section is a really powerful force on the record. Awake And Dreaming is definately a favourite on the record. Besides Awake And Dreaming and the three singles Quicksand, Tip, and Above there isn't much listening pleasure on this record. But these four songs are a definate reason to go out and buy the CD. Songs like Condenser make you want to turn the CD off. Along with the heavy guitars they are usually backed with flanger, there isn't any guitar solos in this CD it makes you wonder if it's the same musician's that made The Letters From Chutney CD. At some points on the record just when you think there is going to be a guitar solo it turns out to be just a lot of feedback. All in all this is an alright record but it can't be compared to their first offering under a different band name.

Hot Spots: Awake And Dreaming, Quicksand, and Above
