2005 Knights of Columbus Ontario
State Convention
On
May 21 to 23, 2005 your council was represented at the 102nd
Ontario State Convention held in Toronto at the Double Tree International
Hotel by P. G. K. Peter Lemon (Bev), G. K. Brian Beaumont (Pat), D. G. K.
Mike LaButte (Kathy) and Real Garon.
The
three-day convention began on Saturday with opening ceremony's and a guest
speaker.
State Deputy John
Clancey gave a report to convention delegates as to the progress of the
Knights of Columbus in Ontario for the past year. A wine and cheese
reception followed.
Mass
was celebrated at 8:00 A.M. Sunday morning by Bishop Marchant and other
Bishops from throughout Ontario. The awards presentation followed
immediately after Mass after which time general business was conducted.
Elections were held as all the members of State Board were re-elected for
a second term of office. Our State Board Executive for 2005 to 2006 is as
follows.

Immediately following the election there
were 18 resolutions to be presented and voted on. Of the 18 resolutions 3
were withdrawn, 2 were carried and referred to Supreme, 8 were carried and
referred to State Board and 5 were rejected. A complete list is available
from the Grand Knight.
Because the
resolutions ran late there was only time for a few of the reports by the
various Chairman and the rest were held until the Monday morning business
session.
The
State Banquet was held Sunday night at 7:30 P.M. as our State Chaplain
Bishop Marchant began with an opening prayer. After dinner The family of
the year LeRoy Eid of St. Peter's Maronite Council #13335 here in Windsor
gave a speech and council of the year was presented to a Council from
Ottawa.
