Wilf and Yvonne Rivait
Brother
Wilf and Yvonne Rivait were married July 23, 1960 at St. John Vianney
Church in Windsor. They have
been happily married for the past 42 years.
Wilf was a dedicated worker for A&P for 37 years and Yvonne
worked the last 18 years as a legal secretary for the law firm of
Dickinson Wright. They both
worked for over 40 years and retired on the same day in 1996. They
have 2 sons.
FAMILY
MEMBERS
MIKE
(40) is married to Cecilia. They celebrated 15 years of marriage. Michael
is the Senior Business Manager, Systems for Visa Canada in Toronto.
Cecilia is the Development Manager for Liberate Technologies in Toronto.
They met at the University of Waterloo and both graduated with computer
science degrees.
JIM
(38) attended the University of Waterloo where he graduated with a computer
science degree. He is now a business owner in Toronto.
Both
Mike and Jim were Columbian Squires and quite involved in a bowling league
and Riverside Minor Baseball Association for many years.
PARISH
INVOLVEMENT:
The
Rivaits are parishioners at St. Rose of Lima Church. They bring up the
offertories, Wilf helps out on “Rose Sunday”, they were involved with
the recent World Youth Day, the Church Building Fund BBQ and they attend
most social activities. Yvonne
is a past member of C.W.L..
COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT:
Wilf
and Yvonne were involved for many years with the Rubber Duck Race. For 5
years, Wilf coached teams for the Riverside Minor Baseball Association. He
was also a Baseball Association and volunteered with various baseball
functions. She was also a a member of the Executive Committee for 15
years. Yvonne was a proud supporter of the Baseball Association and
volunteered with various baseball functions. She was also a Heart & Stroke
canvasser.
COUNCIL
INVOLVEMENT:
Wilf
became a proud Knight of Columbus in the spring of 1995. He was a member
of the Building Corporation for 3 years, has been the In & Out
Chairman for the past 5 years and is also on the Membership Committee.
Wilf and Yvonne are involved in Council activities, such as picnics,
Safety Patrol Days and Vegas Nights. Wilf is also on the Council
Golf League.
LEASURE
ACTIVITIES:
As a
family, the Rivaits enjoy participating in golf and baseball tournaments
in Ontario and surrounding areas. In his spare time, Wilf likes to play
golf and bridge and Yvonne likes to play Bingo. As a couple, Wilf and
Yvonne bowled and curled together for many years.
The
Riverside Council is honoured to have the Rivaits as an active family
within the organization. We are sincerely grateful.
