Brother
Frank and Diane Maheux were married in June 3, 1967 at St. George Roman
Catholic
Church in Winnipeg,
Manitoba. Frank retired from the Canadian Military after serving for 37
½
years as a
Communication Technician. He now works for Casino Windsor as a Security
Officer.
Diane has been a
dedicated mother and wife, choosing to stay home and care for their
children.
FAMILY
MEMBERS:
KIMBERLY
(38) is married to Dick McDonald. She is Home-Care Nurse. Dick is a
retired Air
Force Pilot and now
works as a Flight Instructor. Their children are: Ashley (13), Ocean
(10) and
Luke (8).
THERESA
(34) is mentally and physically handicapped. She now resides in Alliston,
Ontario.
ANDREA
(29) is married to Mike Brock. Andrea works part-time at the B-Dalton
Book Store in
Gilbralter,
Michigan. Mike is part-owner of the Fountain-Ohms Company. Alana is
their 18
month old daughter.
PARISH
INVOLVEMENT:
Brother
Frank has made significant contributions to his religious communities.
He has served as an executive member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society,
a member of the Angus Parish Council, Vice-Chairman of the Holy Name
Parish Council and as a member of the Board of Directors for a
non-profit church housing corporation which help build 42 housing
complexes for the lest fortunate. He has also been ushering for the last
20 years, is a eucharistic minister and an alter server. He has been a
parishioner at St-Rose of Lima since 1998.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Brother
Frank has been very busy serving his community. He was a Scout, Cub and
Venturer leader from 1965 to 1968. In 1967, he was awarded the Scouter
Warrant of Appointment by the Governor General of Canada. From 1984 to
1986 he was Vice-President of the North Bay Junior String Orchestra
Parent Group and remained an active member of the organization until
1991. For a period of 3 years, Brother Frank was a member of the
Separate School Board French Immersion Parent Advisory Committee.
Furthermore, between 1984 and 1987 he presided over the Northern Ontario
Highland Dancers Association. Brother Frank has also been involved in
sports. He has played as well as coached a Broomball team. He has also
been a volunteer aerobics instructor. Following in his military
background, Brother Frank teaches cadets at the 364 Lancast Squade and
is a member of the 255 Legion Colour Guard. In addition, Brother Frank
regularly donates his blood, canvasses for the Community Living
Association as well as for the United Way. Evidently, he was nominated
for the Citizen of Year Award in 1980.
COUNCIL INVOLVEMENT:
Brother
Frank became a Knight of Columbus in February 1981. He is currently a
member of the
Fourth Degree Dean
Wagner Assembly. He helps out with various council functions including
bingos, Rose Sunday,
Goodfellows and Safety Patrol.
MILITARY ACHIEVEMENTS:
Brother
Frank Maheux, also known as Warrant Officer J. F. Maheux is a well
respected Military Officer. His medals include the Order of Military
Merit, the Special Service Medal NATO) and the Canadian Decoration 2nd
Clasp. He has also
received the Base Commander's Commendation in 1980, was named the most
Deserving Service Person of 70 Communication Group in 1987 and in 1992
was praised by the Fighter Group/Canadian NORAD Region Commander and 22
Wing Commander.
The
Maheux Fariily display compassion, dedication and devotion to their
community and their parish. The membership of 4924 is proud and
fortunate to have Brother Frank as a Knight of Columbus and therefore
honour his family as the Family of the Month for December 2002.
