Bro. Con and Dorothy Bach

Bro. Con and Dorothy were married in St. Thomas Church in San Francisco in 1964. They have been members of St. Gregory the Great Church since 1998. Previous to this they were members of St. John Vianney Church. Con was born in Australia and came to Canada in 1948. He received his engineering education at McGill in Montreal and is proud to be a Canadian. Con retired in 1989 from Canadian National Railways (C.N.R.) after 25 years service. He retired in Montreal from the position of Director of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. He worked out of the C.N.R. headquarters in Montreal and his work involved traveling throughout all of Canada on various projects.

Dorothy grew up in Windsor where her two sisters are now living. She graduated as a nurse from Hotel Dieu College of Nursing in Windsor. Before she was married she worked as a nurse in Windsor, Detroit, Los Angles and San Francisco. Dorothy and Con have two children.

FAMILY MEMBERS:

JOSEPH(36) is single and working as computer support technician in Vancouver. He had graduated in electrical engineering from McGill in Montreal.

MARIE (34) is married and has two daughters ages 3 years and 9 months. . She graduated as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and practiced in Toronto. Now she he is busy looking after her children and her husband in Toronto.

Dorothy had 3 sisters and many uncles and aunts who lived mostly in the Detroit-Windsor area . She has many nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and a lot of cousins. She is blessed with a very large number of relatives in this area as well as in Toronto, Peterborough and Ottawa.

PARISH INVOLVEMENT:

Dorothy and Con were actively involved in parish work when they were living in Montreal. They worked to establish St. Edward the Confessor Mission in Montreal in an area that was quite a distance from the parish church. This enabled people in that area to walk to mass that was said in the local catholic high school. Con became the first chairman of the mission’s council. Dorothy was actively involved in the charitable work done by the ladies auxiliary of the church. She served as president of the ladies auxiliary for one year. She collected clothes for the poor that Dorothy and Con would deliver to a center of distribution in downtown Montreal. When they came to Windsor in 1993, the parish priest immediately got Dorothy and Con to serve as Eucharistic Ministers. Con also helped the priest in various repair work at the church. Con was involved in organizing the knights and parish men to do a major repair of the pews in the church that took about 4 months to complete.

COMMUNITY WORK:

In Montreal, Dorothy and Con were actively involved in community work. Dorothy was a brownie leader. She organized a committee to bring bus service into their neighborhood. She was a volunteer at the Garry Taylor for the Mentally Impaired. Con was a director for swimming competition in their local community pool.

Since arriving in Windsor, Con served for a number of years as a director at the condominium that they are living in. He was president of the Board of Directors at the condominium for one of those years. He also served on various committees at the condominium. Con was sued 4 years ago for voluntary work that he did on one of these committees. This case has still  not been brought to trial. Unfortunately for us, Con and Dorothy have had to curtail most of their voluntary community work until the courts make their decision on the matter of a person being sued by an organization for doing voluntary work for that same organization.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS INVOLVEMENT:

In the previous council that Con belonged to, he served as an inside guard and a trustee. He was also involved in selling the annual Good-Fellows newspaper. Con transferred to our council 3 years ago. He volunteered to work on the Website Committee a year ago. Since that time he has learned how to develop a website and has done the design and computer programming of our current web site for the Website Committee. Con regularly attends council meeting and Dorothy and Con participate in many of our social events.

The council is proud to have Dorothy and Con and their family as members of our great organization.

Keep up the good work.

Fraternally yours,

Reg. Deshaies and John St. Pierre

Family Co-Directors.
