JT2005 JOL Tournament Homepage

Each player participates in three preliminary games. Each player will have a Game A, Game B and Game C. Each game also has a number after it to distinguish if from other games of that 'letter'. So, for example, Wes has three games as follows:

Games that are finished will have the victory point allocations beside it. This will help us track how many games we are waiting for.

When all games have been closed, we will determine who will be seated at the finalist table.

JT2005 Tournament Policies

Here are the policies for the JT2005 tournament.

SLOW AND NON-RESPONSIVE PLAYERS

Each player is expected to log in and check their games at least twice per day, whenever possible.

After a game "move", other players must respond within 24 hours of the last "move". Refer to the JOL3 timestamp next to each "move" to find out how long it's been.

Allowances might be made for those methuselahs who live in other time zones and for people like myself who work midnight shifts. This should be up to the players of each game, and the decision should be made ahead of time and *by consensus* of all participating players. I urge all players to be relaxed about this unless a player has proven to be a problem.

Note that weekends are already considered time-off for JOL games. No player is required to respond on Saturday or Sunday, though it's great if you can.

If a player does not respond within the allotted time, with the judge's consent, the following occurs by default:

If it is *another* Methuselah's turn

  1. Abstain in all referendums.
  2. Not block or react to any actions.
  3. In combat, vampires stay at default range and strike with hands.
  4. Play no Master: Out of Turn cards.
  5. Optional effects in play are assumed to not take effect (eg Ublo-Satha does not prevent damage).

If it is the *slow* Methuselah's turn

  1. Untap all their vampires.
  2. Perform any *mandatory* actions.
  3. Gain/lose any mandatory pool/blood.
  4. Optional effects in play are assumed to not take effect.
  5. In combat, vampires stay at default range and strike with hands.
  6. End their turn.

It should be noted here that missing your turn is a serious thing. It disrupts the game for everyone (except maybe your predator) and generally makes a mess of things.

However, it should also be noted that you should be very careful about skipping peoples' turns too often. A skipped turn could have serious consequences on the rest of the game. You should skip turns only after *careful* consideration and, as noted, always with the consensus of the other players and the judge's ok.

PLAYER TIME-OFFS

There will be many times when a player needs to take a day off from JOL for whatever reason. Notice should be given ahead of time to each game that player is in, and preferrably with as much notice as possible. That game must decide by consensus what to do about this. Either way, please inform jt2005@deckserver.net that you will be away so I (Wes) can update my records. If someone is away and you were not informed, ask me and I will check those records.

If the player will be away for only a day, I would urge all players to just relax and enjoy a day off rather than get all upset about it.

If the player needs to take a few days or more off, they should probably find a replacement player for that period. I currently have no replacement players, but probably will by the time we need them. George is not playing so may be able to sit and play your hand for a few days, if that is agreeable to everyone involved.

If a player must drop out of the tourney permanently, please contact me. I will try to find someone to take over their decks for them. Give me a bit of time as this is not always easy to do.

Note that weekends are already considered time-off for JOL games. No player is required to respond on Saturday or Sunday.

DEALMAKING

There is nothing stopping two Methuselahs from making deals in JOL. Furthermore, there is nothing stopping two Methusleahs from keeping their deals a secret from the rest of the table. This adds an interesting element to most JOL games.

And just like real V:tES there is absolutely nothing stopping a Methuselah from breaking their deals. Not me, though. I always keep my word. Uh huh. I swear.

GAME TIME-OUTS

Each game will end approximately four months after the start date for that round. I will send an email a few days before the time-out period, letting you know that you have so long to finish up your games. Games that time-out will grant 1/2 VPs just like a regular VEKN tournament.

GAME EXTENSIONS

Extra weeks will be added to any games in which a player had to go on vacation for a full week. This will only be done for full weeks and not for individual days off. You *must* inform me (Wes) of this when it occurs so I can keep records. If I am not informed, you will *not* get an extra week. Even if a player is away, if the rest of the table is able to play a few hands before the person gets back from vacation, they are welcome to do so. Similarly, if the person on vacation is able to log in once or twice while they are away, that's fine too.

Game extensions will be noted beside the game name on the above chart. A game with two weeks extension will have (+2) beside it, for example.
