Summer Students


Through two federal government programs, high school, college and university students have an opportunity to work at the fort during the months of July and August.  Under the direction of the fort's permanent staff they: 

  • provide demonstrations and interpretive tours for visitors
  • re-enact "Life at the Fort"
  • assist with group tours
  • serve in the Garrison Gift Shop

Summer Career Placement (SCP) is a program of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and is offered at Fort Malden under the sponsorship of FMVA.

Young Canada Works (YCW) is a joint initiative of Canadian Heritage and Parks Canada.

In 2004, Fort Malden enjoys the services of 8 SCP students and 18 YCW students.
