Sunday School World Vision Christmas Project

Last  year the Sunday School  appealed for contributions to World Vision  that would change a family’s life forever!.  For every $50 dollars donation, World Vision would send 2 hens and a rooster to a family. The gift of 2 hens and a rooster can start a whole brood of chicks that will provide eggs, meat and a source of steady income healthy and self-reliant. They were very successful in reaching their goal and also receiving the support of this church.

The Junior & Youth Choirs & Friends

This year’s variety show, “Be-Dazzled,” will be presented on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. It will feature the special talents of the members of our Junior and Youth Choir. The members are doing most of it themselves again and will feature such acts as “The Spice Girls,” the Balcony Scene from Romeo and Juliet, our two extremely talented pianists, Taiji Wang and Celeste Alcena, another group dance number, our resident crooner, Jonathon Desjardins, a clowns act, some skits and jokes, and much, much more! Rick Medd and Sandy Radvanyi will join the choir as part of the special feature of musical excerpts from “Fiddler on the Roof.” Tickets as always will be $5, 12 and under free. We plan to do a big media blitz this year to increase our audience size, not only because our talented youth deserve a big audience, but because the choir has voted unanimously to donate all proceeds to the general funds of Central United Church. Please invite your friends and family to make this our most successful production to date.

30 Hour Famine Fundraiser  Christopher and Matthew Eldracher  collected donations for the 30 hour famine fundraiser last year. .

All money was donated to World Vision, an organization whose mandate is to defeat world hunger. The 30 Hour Famine began Friday, May 12 at 7 a.m. and ended Saturday May 13 at 1 p.m. They do not eat but are allowed to drink Kool -aid for that time period. It is a time to reflect on those who go hungry around the world every day. Last year Kennedy High school was able to raise over $5000 with the help of our generous congregation. We are proud of the efforts of these young people to go through this difficult weekend project  as they try  to make a difference to defeat  world hunger!
