A warm welcome to Central United Church. If you are visiting for the first time, we invite you to sign one of the guest books located at either of the Ouellette Avenue entrances and please view our brochure located in the pews. Following the service this morning, please join us for a time of refreshment in the Cencourse foyer.
If you are a visitor in our midst, you may notice the small candle (in the red holder) burning on the Communion table. This is our "peace candle". Each week, as we arrive in the sanctuary, we individually offer a prayer for world peace. If you would like a candle to take back to your home congregation, so that your church can be a part of this world-wide tradition, please speak with one of our ushers or our minister, and you will be given a candle, a glass holder, and an outline of how this tradition began.
A special arrangement has been made with McDonald's for those individuals physically unable to walk across the street. You must also have a parking permit from the church office, which will allow you to park in the McDonald's lot on Sunday Morning's only. Please park in the spaces along Dufferin. We may now park in Shoppers Drug Mart in the last 10 spaces that are adjacent to the Cencourse parking wall only. You will need to get one of the new parking permits. If it is not displayed and or if you are parking elsewhere in their lot you will be towed.
Central United Church has Hearing Assist Earphones for those who need them. They are located at the rear of the church just off the centre aisle. An usher at the back of the church will be glad to help you obtain the earphones and will offer any explanation of how to use the device. Please feel free to give our Hearing Assist Earphones a try.
If you have small children, the Nursery on the second floor of Cencourse is available
for your convenience. Please speak to one of the ushers if you need assistance.
We Remember in Our Thoughts and Prayers all members in hospital, their homes and chronic care facilities who are unable to be with us today. The church office (253-4641) sincerely appreciates being informed of persons at home or in hospital and in need of pastoral care.
If you would like to take part in our worship service by reading the scripture lessons,
please contact Virginia at 519-253-4641.
On the first Sunday of each month, there will be boxes at each of the entrances to the sanctuary in which to place food items for the Downtown Mission. This will enable Central's congregation to demonstrate continual support of the Mission's important service to the community. The Downtown Mission Food Bank is always in need of the following items, juices(48 oz.), sugar, soups (mushroom and vegetable), canned tuna or salmon, chick peas and kidney beans, kraft dinner, Jello, peanut butter (500 gms-small), jams and jellies, canned meats/stews, spaghetti sauce or canned tomatoes, pork and beans, canned vegetables, and cake mixes. Other items are also appreciated.
There is generally a service of an anointing with oil for healing on the 3rd Sunday of each month immediately following the Service. It is a brief service about 15 minutes. Please feel free to attend and join with us as we ask God for healing in body, mind, and spirit.
