Since there is no cure for HIV, the emphasis is upon preventing new infections.
There are several ways that you can avoid or reduce the chance of HIV infection:
1. Abstinence, or avoiding sexual activity.
2.  Wearing a latex condom when having sex (see safer sex guidelines)
3.  Never sharing needles used for drugs or steroids (see harm reduction)
