Jim and Heather’s Message is as follows:

“Congratulations.  You did it.   You’ve been part of the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the United Way in Chatham-Kent.  For the first time in its history the Chatham-Kent United Way has topped the $2 million mark.

What does it mean?  It means that those in need in our community will find comfort.  It means those who may have lost their way will have a helping hand to find it.  It means those who despair will have hope.

Our funded agencies have already seen the results of this campaign with a 10 per cent increase in funding. That means they will be able to do more of the work, which is so valuable in our community.  You have helped so many people in so many ways.

None of this would have happened without the hard work of the volunteers, the workplaces, agencies, campaign event sponsors and, most importantly, the donors.  Every donation is key. Every dollar is important. Every dollar can save a life.

Your hard work and dedication are what made this campaign special.  To those who organized workplace campaigns, the loaned and sponsored representatives, the community chairs and United Way staff, thank you all so much.  You are people of vision who truly see what kind of world we can live in, if only we make the effort.  You are agents of change who know that we have the power.

Most of all, you’re the kind of people we’re proud to call our friends and neighbours.  We started this campaign with the theme “There’s no place like home.”  You’ve made those words come true.  Thank you everyone.

Jim and Heather Blake
