Announcements

Announcements are printed in each Sunday’s bulletin. For your convenience we post a few here and endeavour to keep them current (and accurate – no guarantees…), but we absolutely recommend you drop by one of the churches, join us for worship, and take a bulletin from one of our friendly greeters if you REALLY wish to know what’s going on!

Free to a Good Home

We have an Electric Hammond Organ (2 manual keyboards) and bench that we would like to donate to any church that would like to have it.  It’s a Model VS-300 120 volt and has 8 foot pedals.  It belonged to Florence Lampman and is in very good shape.  Ryan and I would be happy to deliver it wherever it needs to go (within reason...)

Ongoing Parish and Church Fundraisers

ScripScripScripScripScripScrip

Keep the new and improved SCRIP program in mind. See your church rep any Sunday for your order form and keep checking the bulletin for changes, as the program gets better and better. Those reps are Gail Baldwin at Church of the Advent (and she’s the overall coordinator), Marlene Hendry at Christ Church, Ruth Boos at Church of the Redeemer, Marjorie Johnston at St John’s, Shirley Sewell at St Matthew’s and Marney Nichols at St Stephen’s. You can reach the coordinator at g.baldwin @sympatico.ca (close the space when you write) or 519-674-0591. There are new rules for a monthly (rather than weekly) order. See your parish rep for details.

A very unique fundraiser is going on in the parish. Ron Bolohan has cut a CD. He writes, “All proceeds (after expenses) from the sale of this CD go to the [Parish] of the Transfiguration and my hopes are that it will be well received by all.”

Cool, eh? What other parish do you know of that has produced an accordion music CD?

And now, even better, you can listen to the songs at Ron Bolohan’s My Space Music. Just click on that underlined phrase and when you get to the site click on the song titles that come up and go from there. The quality is not as good as the CD, Ron says, because of file size issues, but you will get the idea.

Church of the Advent’s ACW has cookbooks are still available. Email the church office for information.

There are a few  parish t-shirts left in limited sizes. Phone Pat at 519-683-4269 or the office to get yours.

Church of the Redeemer will put chocolate figures on a stick for you. See the Highgate page (link to the left and below) for further details. Give Carol Spiruda a call at 519-678-3957 to see about getting yours.

The Voluntary Withdrawal Request

“14. Within the ambit of the issues discussed in the Windsor Report and in order to recognise the integrity of all parties, we request that the Episcopal Church (USA) and the Anglican Church of Canada voluntarily withdraw their members from the Anglican Consultative Council for the period leading up to the next Lambeth Conference. During that same period we request that both churches respond through their relevant constitutional bodies to the questions specifically addressed to them in the Windsor Report as they consider their place within the Anglican Communion. (cf. paragraph 8)”

Wish to read more? Click here for The Anglican Communion Primates’ Meeting Communiqué, February 2005 and see the Home page (link at the bottom of this page) for the link to the Windsor Report. Also, the Popular Report, found at www.diohuron.org has much to say on the topic.

The St Michael Report

“1. The Commission has concluded that the blessing of committed same-sex unions is a matter of doctrine.”

This is the first of twelve points in the opening Brief Overview, and forty-four points in the report proper, a mere thirty-six pages in all – an evening’s read.

Wish to spend that evening reading what we all need to know? Click here for The St Michael Report, REPORT of the PRIMATE’S THEOLOGICAL COMMISSION of the ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADA on the Blessing of Same-Sex Unions.
