Company History

Building rough terrain lift trucks since 1968

After a long association with a Ford Tractor dealer, Walter Sellick began building the company by modifying an industrial tractor supplied by Ford Tractor into a 6000 lb. forklift for outdoors use. A basic sub-frame, mast and counterweight design resulted in what is now known as the turn-around tractor series.

As the state of the art advanced in the design and construction of heavy duty lift trucks, the integral one-piece frame concept was introduced across all model lines in 1975. The basic Ford Tractor power train was retained as the basic power module for most models. By this time, the market for Sellick straight mast rough terrain forklifts was well established. The new rugged design and breadth of line (5000 lb. to 12,000 lb., 2 & 4 wheel drive) paved the way to increased sales through the early 1980s.

In 1987, a new component designed series featuring Perkins, Ford and Continental engine options, popular shift-on-the-go transmissions and See Thru roller masts were introduced with the SD and low profile SG Series. The introduction of the 12,000 lb SD Series forklift and our optional fully automatic Powershift transmission in the late 1990s ushered in the new millenium.

In 1995, our Truck Mounted Forklift was introduced. The TMF-55 features 5500 lb. capacity and is powered by a choice of Deutz or Perkins diesel engine. This product reduces turn-around time to a minimum thus maximizing the complete delivery system - driver, truck and trailer. Since the TMF-55 quickly and easily loads itself on the back of a truck or trailer, it saves valuable cargo space and eliminates towing a trailer.

In 2002, Sellick Equipment Limited became the sole North American distributor of the JCB Teletruk. This variable reach industrial forklift compliments the rest of our material-handling products with its unique forward reach and versatility.

In 2003, a new generation of low profile forklift was introduced—the SG-R Series. This compact high-powered lift truck was designed to maneuver in the smallest and tightest places.

In 2004, Sellick introduced the ergonomically-friendly S Series forklift. With an emphasis on operator safety and comfort, Sellick launches a new era of cutting edge forklift design and manufacturing.

Sellick forklifts are sold and serviced in every corner of the North American continent as well as overseas through a high quality, service-oriented dealer network.
