The Leamington Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church (EMMC) was started in 1967 by immigrants from Mexico under the leadership of Dave Friesen from Aylmer. In 1968 the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference asked the Jake Hoeppners to provide leadership in Leamington on a full-time basis. Meetings were initially held in homes, then in UMEI and Hillman United Church until the church building was completed in the fall of 1972. A building program begun in 1984 has more than doubled its capacity.

Dave and Gladys Penner have pastoral responsibilities at EMMC, assisted by one lay minister and five deacon couples and, since 1994, a full-time youth pastor. Over the years the church has implemented a Christion education board and a mission board.
