Why is testing important?

Anyone can become infected with HIV if they do not take precautionary measures such as practicing safe sex and becoming informed about the risk of sharing needles.  Health Canada estimates that more than 50,000 Canadians are living with HIV and another 15,000 are unaware of their HIV infection.  The decision to take the test is the first step in taking responsibility for your health and the health of others with whom you may be intimately involved.

Windsor-Essex County Health Unit:  Confidential and anonymous.  However you must ask for anonymous HIV testing.  1005 Ouellette Ave.  (519) 258-2146
HIV Care Program:  Offers anonymous HIV testing, counseling and safer sex education.  You must call ahead and schedule an appointment.
(519) 254-6115.
